Experts in the U.S. have found that broad grins laugh lines around the eyes can impact your health and life expectancy. Researchers at Wayne State University in Michigan looked at 2300 pictures of major league players in a 1950’s baseball register and ranked them according to whether they had no smile, partial smile and a full smile. They then compared the photographs with the life span of each player.
The study found that those with no smile lived an average 72.9 years, those with partial smiles lived an average 75 years, those with the broadest grins lived 79.9 years.
Surprisingly researchers found that putting a false smile may not give the same benefit, extra life expectancy was only seen in players with genuine smiles.
